Okay people, here we go again, only this time the consequences of the upcoming midterm elections could not be more potentially dire. Yikes. Isn’t it incredible that nine people can have that much power?
Never forget, however, that last time I checked the ultimate power still rests in the power of the people when they get out and vote. And tell their friends and family to vote. And register members of their community to vote, particularly young voters who can sometimes feel intimidated by the system. Their futures are on the line so they will welcome your help.
Don’t let me down, fellow feminists! If we don’t pull it together for this Fall’s midterm elections, we can kiss our reproductive rights goodbye, and say farewell to our democracy while we’re at it.
If you live in one of the following districts, it is not too late to get active in support of a pro-choice candidate, or even several. If your district is not listed, please please please help out somewhere else. Donate, contact friends and relatives, particularly in crucial states such as Florida and North Carolina. When women rise we are powerful. Even states like Iowa and Alaska are in play this year, due to the unconscionable Dobbs decision.
Here is our chance to say a huge F U to patriarchy!! Non-incumbent female candidates are at an extreme disadvantage, so we really must show our support with financial donations if at all possible. Campaigns cost money. Male allies, you have been making more than we women for decades, so please show that you truly care by choosing a candidate or two, going to their website, and pulling out your credit card. Now is the time!!!!!
In states like Alabama and Tennessee women’s voices need to be uplifted, bigly. Entrenched incumbents think they can continue on their ego-driven rides, but their time is up. Let 2022 be the year when women and our allies recognize the need to jump into politics, a messy business. It’s kinda like cleaning the toilets. Not your favorite job, but absolutely necessary for a functioning House (and a filibuster-free Senate).
Kudos to CA-37, where two pro-choice women are running against each other! The asterisk signifies an open seat, which is typically slightly easier to win. Incumbents have a huge advantage. A few districts have must-beat incumbents. Those are CA-20 (Kevin McCarthy), FL-01 (Matt Gaetz), and PA-10 (Scott Perry). Another incumbent who really needs to be retired is almost 89 year-old Chuck Grassley, Republican Senator from Iowa since before his opponent Abby Finkenauer was born! Adios, Kevin, Matt, Scott and Chuck. We can do better!
